Lisa Gilson is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science at Yale University. Her research is rooted in political theory, with a focus on social criticism, political romanticism, and American political thought. Her current work examines the relationship between romantic criticism and popular engagement in political reform. Her future work will explore populist nationalisms, and—in a second project—the role of nonviolent protest in changing norms of political participation.
