One of my friends and fellow PhD students at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Mary Rogalski, is funding some of her research through a new crowdfunding initiative by Rockethub. I think this is a fantastic way to connect people to really great science research, as well as to support scientists’ work. Fundraising and gran writing is a really time-consuming process, and sometimes you just need a few thousand bucks for some inexpensive equipment or a plane ticket somewhere. I hear even if you don’t reach your fundraising goal, Rockethub still lets you keep the funds you raise.
