Thanks to the manner in which people are looking at health, people have started opening up about uncommon diseases, and have even started taking tradition education in health more seriously. Social media and the popularity of health is opening up a thousand new doors every single day.

One of the reasons why this generation, over most others, is so focused on health is because there is a larger awareness of it. Millennials have a large number of resources available to them to understand the variety of diseases and how to apply preventative measures. The internet is a wide array of knowledge, this is inclusive of health care, it is much easier today to research different topics and get appropriate results out of it. Moreover, millennials are more vocal about their health concerns, hence they ask more of their doctors and other professionals. Because of the growth in health education, therefore, consumers are becoming more aware of their choices and how these choices reflect on their day to day life. A large number of younger consumers have specific diets they follow because they believe in caution over cure. There is also a growing popularity in veganism because of the manner in which it affects personal health as well as the environment and animal rights. The rise of health consciousness extends to mental health, more millennials are working towards mindset and positivity. Overall, millennials are focused on making drastic changes to their lifestyle whereby they can expect successful results in their whole life. People are looking beyond the perfect bodies and embracing the idea of self-acceptance and acknowledging its necessity in personal development as well as health.

Social media has had a big hand in the popularity of healthcare. With people posting their day to day meals on Instagram to talking about all the benefits of going Vegan on Snapchat, they are taking all opportunities to showcase their challenges and achievements. The fitness industry has also grown a lot since the rise of social media. It is hard to scroll through Instagram or Facebook and not come across at least one post about working out. A lot of YouTubers have also started their own combinations of workouts and meal plans that allow people to stay fit at home. A lot of millennials are starting to view the large possibilities in the healthcare industry as well, as it is not limited to medicine. There are now courses of a vast variety that can be pursued be it in the “care” industry like the Certificate IV in Ageing Support, or in the “wellness” industry, where people look to learn preventative healthcare systems and alternative medicine with courses like Wellness and Alternative Medicine. Overall, the healthcare industry is growing and will continue to grow.

It is necessary to note that there is a major shift in healthcare as even though it still consists of social interaction this generation prefers to have all the information in their palms. Millennials would rather learn about their health online and on social media and surround themselves with people who want a better lifestyle rather than going to a doctor or depending on traditional healthcare. Social media has started a trend of wellness and a healthy lifestyle, almost everyone today understands the manner in which what they eat affects how their day goes. People know the kind of exercise they should be doing in order to stay physically active. Apps that can synchronize with people’s time are increasing so that more people can integrate health even with minimal time on their hands. Nobody sees health as a privilege anymore, rather it is a state of being. Millenials are focusing on self-educating through different platforms and want to have a holistic understanding of health. They are pursuing the Law of Attraction and meditation for their mental health and checking remedies that allow one to detox. The awareness of health will continue to see a rise as the world becomes more social and health consciousness will, therefore, continue to open new doors into the healthcare industry.
