The correlation between brain and diet

Our health has become something of a global obsession. It isn’t a bad thing – frankly, it is overdue that we pay such close attention to the maintenance and impact on our bodies. What is interesting to note, however, is the way in which this latest trend has come full circle. People want to have the healthiest look and feel to them. The goal has never changed, just the way people go about achieving it. For years, people have paid to have injections, lifts, enhancements, and other procedures to look their best. To feel their best, they have tried every crash diet and juice cleanse under the sun – and then often binged on the fast foods and sugary drinks they missed so much during such cleanses. Each of these pathways to looking and feeling the best has short-lived results, and often is quite unhealthy for the body as well. In the last year or so, however, the world has seemed to glide to the realization that all these health tips and tricks are just that – tricks. They require consistent upkeep, much of which has proven to be unhealthy for the average person’s body in the long-term.

These days, companies like Standard Process have made it their mission to introduce natural, genuinely healthy products to the market that not only work, but help the individual achieve an overall assertion of health in that they are filled with healthy, protective ingredients. It is no secret that the best way to feel your healthiest is to eat a balanced diet and exercise regularly. But what has instead happened is that people have fallen into the patterns of what seems “easier” or have tried extreme measures to reverse the damage already inflicted on their bodies. The same can be said for the ways we go about ensuring we look our healthiest – people invest in “miracle” ailments and procedures because it is the lazy person’s way to solve the issue. Unfortunately for them, it also happens to be more effort in the long run, so…there’s that.

Despite common misconceptions, age is anything but merely a number. How we fuel our bodies directly links to how our bodies age in terms of both internal health and physical appearance. There is a growing (and overtly sensible, frankly long overdue) realization among the masses that the best way to look one’s best is to fuel the body with healthy foods and drinks. This conception has been literally put to the test and found to yield significant results – specifically for women. New US research has found that a diet that consists of a lot of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains is not only the obviously healthier diet for the body, but the one that promotes positive cellular aging in women.

The study, carried out by multiple universities including the University of Michigan, the University of California, and Queen University of Belfast, Northern Ireland, analysed the diets of nearly 5,000 healthy adults (4,758, to be exact) and found that each of the four diet indexes measured emphasize the benefits of eating natural healthy foods, including fruits, vegetables, grains, and natural fats (like fish). This study (and so many others of recent value) all speak highly of the power of ensuring and maintaining a healthy diet, and what that can help us achieve in terms of maintaining healthy cells, avoiding certain chronic illnesses, and improving the appearance of age on our skin.

A balanced diet is the key to ensuring and maintaining the healthiest skin, body, and brain that we can. Actively exercising and consciously choosing foods that have a positive impact on the body is the only sure-fire way to making sure that our bodies are fueled the best way they can be, and that we are taking care of them the best way we know how. What we eat is broken down in the body throughout the day, and during that process it is turned into fuel that keeps the body functioning and thriving.

When it comes to ensuring and maintaining our body’s health, we should be aiming not for the short-lived tips and tricks – like surgical procedures and juice cleanses – but instead for the one long-term concept that matters: what we fuel our bodies with. An individual’s diet has a far greater impact on the way they feel and look. Getting enough sleep, drinking plenty of water, and eating a healthy, balanced diet is the trifecta of human health. Coming into the world healthy is a privilege, and to do anything but take the utmost care of the body we are given is not doing ourselves justice; a healthy diet is the core of feeling and looking our healthiest, so instead of enlisting in the help of fad diets, extreme cleanses, and surgical procedures, let’s just take care of our bodies naturally – the way we were built to.
