Students
U.S. Grant invites talented and motivated New Haven public and parochial students entering grades 6-9 to apply to participate in its six-week summer program on the Yale campus.
U.S. Grant is designed for talented and motivated students who have a desire to learn and succeed and might have limited opportunities and resources to participate in academic enrichment activities. It is not a camp and only serious students who like to try new things and are hard working should apply. All returning Grant students must re-apply for admission, which is not guaranteed.
Dates: The 2018 program runs from June 25 – August 3, 2018
Attendance: Daily attendance is crucial, and applicants only students who can commit to attending every day of the program should apply. All applicants will be asked to confirm that they can commit to attending each day of the program during the summer, if they are accepted.
Deadline: The application deadline has been extended to February 12, 2018.
Notification: All applicants will be notified of their status in March 2018.
Cost and Financial Aid: The entire cost of the summer program for families is $75 and is due upon acceptance, at orientation. Financial aid is available to a limited number of students and those who wish to be considered can let us know on the application. Family income and other information may be requested.
To apply, follow these two steps.
Step 1: Complete the U.S. Grant Application
There are two applications. One for new students and one for returning students. Please choose the form that applies to you by clicking one of the two links below. Paper applications may also be available at eligible schools.
Students who applied previously and were not accepted should chose the “New Student” application.
All returning students must re-apply for admission to the program. In addition, returning students are not guaranteed re-admission. The admissions committee will review returning students’ past records of behavior, participation, attendance, grades and teacher comments.
