Mission

A fully student run organization, the Yale Undergraduate Jazz Collective strives to provide both educational and performance opportunities for jazz music on campus in the absence of a robust University-sponsored jazz program. To meet this goal, the Collective hosts its Underbrook Concert Series each semester along with a Jazz Festival in the Spring, bringing in top professional artists to engage our community through performances and masterclasses. Monthly jam sessions and student performances have provided important outlets for students to develop and share their passion for jazz music with the Yale community, continuing to build upon the thriving culture established through our successful Underbrook Series and Festival. Ultimately, we aim to cultivate a powerful community around jazz music at Yale that compels the University to prioritize a comprehensive jazz program that meets this community’s needs. See our Programs section for more information about these initiatives.
