Jack Turban MD MHS is a writer and resident physician in child and adolescent psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. His research and writing focus on children’s mental health and transgender youth. Dr. Turban’s writing has appeared in The New York Times, Vox, Scientific American, Psychology Today, JAMA Pediatrics, and The Journal of The American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, among others. He has provided interviews and technical consulting to Vogue, GQ, NPR’s All Things Considered, Reuters, Vox, ABC’s 20/20 with Diane Sawyer, Bustle, Vanity Fair, Medscape, US News & World Report, and NBC News.

Dr. Turban graduated from Harvard University magna cum laude with a B.A. in neurobiology before becoming the resident director of the Harvard neuroscience abroad program in Italy. He earned his MD and MHS degrees from Yale School of Medicine, where he was an HHMI medical research fellow and graduated with highest honors. He is currently a resident physician in child and adolescent psychiatry at The Massachusetts General Hospital & McLean Hospital (Harvard Medical School). He is co-editing a textbook about pediatric gender identity for Springer and has several active research projects through The Fenway Institute, The McLean Institute for Technology in Psychiatry, and in collaboration with the Bedford VA and Yale School of Medicine. He is a member of the media committee of The American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
